Space in a Hum
Sound Installation at Think & Tink

Space in a Hum
Space in a Hum is a sonic archive born from instinct. What began as a hum lodged in my body, repeating itself throughout the days of the residency, became a kind of a vessel for emotion, memory, and release. It made me wonder— if this melody could bring such healing to me, what other sounds are waiting to be released from the collective?

Midway through the residency, I invited others into a shared space. It began simply: breath in, breath out together. Then, slowly, everyone took turns making whatever sounds they liked into the microphone. Some recited letters to old friends, messages to those who have passed, apologies to those they’ve wronged. Words of love. Secrets spoken aloud for the first time. Lullabies passed down through generations. Poems held close to the heart.

This sound installation holds those moments and is a growing archive of voices—layered with hums, sighs, songs. Each person who enters is invited to contribute - adding to a shared memory suspended in sound and time.
